You keep some of your most precious valuables locked in your safe, so what should you do if you get locked out?
First thing is first, do not take any heavy-duty tools to the safe to try and unlock it – there are easier options.
Start by searching for a spare key. Even if you have an electronic safe, chances are it came with a backup key.
If you cannot locate a spare key, begin searching for the safe’s serial number. You can usually find this on the door near the hinge or at the back of the safe in the top corner. You will need this serial number for when you contact a locksmith.
A locksmith uses a serial number to understand what safe make, model, and locking mechanism they are dealing with. If you are happy that a locksmith is capable of assisting you based on their experience and price, they will arrange to meet you at our business or residential location.
Keep in mind that a locksmith cannot get to work until you can prove that you own the safe. You can prove this using your proof of residence or proof of purchase. From there, it won’t take your locksmith very long to unlock your safe. They can also help you reset the safe’s code or provide you with a spare key.
