The Types of Locks that Cannot be Picked

With lock picking becoming a more prevalent issue, it is understandable that people are seeking out the pickproof types of locks. At the same time, no lock is 100% pickproof. However, many types of locks can be difficult to pick, and one lock system that is not pickable by conventional means.

Smart Locks

Smart locks run on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology. They link to your phone, passcode, or key card. They don’t have a hole for a lock pick to stick their tools into in order to gain access to your door. So, technically, they are 100% pickproof.

It is possible for hacking to bypass a smart lock, however. So, while they are pickproof, they will not provide your home with maximum defense.

If you do opt for a Smart lock, keep in mind the extra features smart locks can offer, like an alarm system or CCTV. These things will deter crooks, keep your home safer, and provide evidence if a break-in.

The HYT Chain Key

Here is a unique lock for your home. It would take a master of his lock picking craft to get past this lock and certainly will baffle the common thief.

The key itself is actually a chain. Known also as a snake lock because of the links that make the key, these links need feeding into the lock for the lock to work. This means the key can bend whichever way the lock requires it to. It also means the inner workings of the lock bend around corners. This makes it extremely difficult for a burglar to get their lock picking tools to the parts of the lock that they would generally need access to.

The key for this lock is rather delicate and not very practical, so while the lock and key are available, it is a rare find.

The Magnetic Lock

EVVA MCS locks can only be effectively picked if the burglar has had a good look at your key. Without it, it would be impossible to figure out a pattern.

These keys work on a unique magnetic pattern that, for now, has not been figured out by the common burglar. But there is always the chance someone will figure it out at some point. Until then, this is a very safe lock for your home.

The Medeco Locks

The high-security Medeco locks are very tough to pick. Each lock has its own unique design, with pins cut at varying angles. Not only are they difficult to pick, but they can also withstand entry through drilling. You will want a high-security Medeco model for a more commonly available and secure lock.

Medeco locks have locks that are not high security. While these locks are good, a few deft hands have successfully figured them out. So, when buying your lock, keep in mind that the higher your security, the safer you are.

The Mul T Lock

For a complicated lock that is not easy to pick, a Mul-T-Lock can protect your home. It features a pin-in-pin design making it difficult for lock picks and lock bumpers to work.

On the downside, they only work with UPVC doors. On the upside, they prevent the door frame from being moved and are resistant to lock snapping, which is common on UPVC doors.
